Bones to dice

Backgammon is played with dice like many other games. Dice games has been in many parts of the worlds. The story starts with tribal priests rolling bones to predict future. It didn’t take long for people to roll bones and bet on the results.

We don’t know how bones evolved into modern dice. Most probably our primitive ancestors carved dices with different faces like four, twelve, twenty. But it came to the cube which is very easy to carve and shape and also very good for rolling. A dice with more faces would roll more than enough.

After dice became a common gaming tool, the next step was to use it with other game pieces on a game layout to create a board game. This has happened most probably everywhere in the world and one of these is most probably the great great great .. father of backgammon.
